Girls Track Records

7/05/2016

By Joy Lynn Clark

When I was younger I ran track.  I ran for my school team and I even ran for the Illinois AAU in the summer (Illinois Amateur Athletic Union).  I was a jumper, I was most successful with high jump.  One year I set a record.  It made the local papers.

I named my record label Girls Track Records.

P.S. GO USA Track and Field Team!!!!!!!!!!!

Track Lit

Thinking I’m on the stroll

When I was on the pole

You give me horse script

But that’s just track lit

I think deeply

And even when you see me

Won’t give it away

When there’s a bill

I must pay

Loving you like them old ways

Picking up on them old days

Like straight from scratch

But I can’t afford that

So I make it up

And now you say it’s yours

Wanna say you writing

When you was off on tours

I got my hat on and my game is long

I pull my hair back

And they say it’s blonde

And it depends on the time of the day

Wanna send me off

Yet you get a delay

Thinking I’m on the stroll

When I was on the pole

You give me horse script

But that’s just track lit

I think deeply

And even when you see me

Won’t give it away

When there’s a bill

I must pay

I won’t take none of your abuse

I won’t let you pick out my shoes

You can’t tell me what to do

Cause in the end

I gotta stay true

Calling me out my

You don’t know my name

Calling me out my

Thinking that I’ll be so plain

Calling me out my

Lock up in chains

Calling me out my

Reaching in my pocket

For all my change

Thinking I’m on the stroll

When I was on the pole

You give me horse script

But that’s just track lit

I think deeply

And even when you see me

Won’t give it away

When there’s a bill

I must pay

On the track daily

A champion so play me

And you think its nothing

Then where is yours?

I will not bend

Though I stretch out more

And If I hand it off

Then we all still score

Thinking I’m on the stroll

When I was on the pole

You give me horse script

But that’s just track lit

I think deeply

And even when you see me

Won’t give it away

When there’s a bill

I must pay

My idea of love Is not giving it up

I know who I am and when I’m on the stroll

They didn’t know enough

So I go back near the track

Where I call home

In my boots to parts well known

I see my fam on the pole just the same

If there’s strip on the pole

Should I feel shame

And when I’m stuck on the pole

Should I change my name

Wanna cut my life short

Cause they ain’t got no game

Thinking I’m on the stroll

When I was on the pole

You give me horse script

But that’s just track lit

I think deeply

And even when you see me

Won’t give it away

When there’s a bill

I must pay
