Text Language by Dazee Dizzle

This Saturday past, I attended a performance by Seun Kuti and Egypt 8 at the Pritzker Auditorium outdoors in Chicago.  It is part of the World Music festival sponsored by the City of Chicago.  Usually, I am somewhere a distance away in the grass however, this day I was lucky enough to get seating in the third row.  It was a big band. There must have been 12 people onstage.  The rhythms were hypnotic and I got a great view of everything.  The background singers were in traditional dress and they were also great dancers.  Watching the dancers reminded me of the fine line.  Bootyshaking.  On southside of Chicago we have all sorts of names for it but, (my mom said her generation called it the dog)  seeing them reminded me of why we dance that way.  To tell the truth, it is something I am missing.  It seems to be very sexualized here in a way that I didn’t get from Egypt 8’s dancers.  In fact, I wanted to get up and shake it myself.

Anyhow, they got to a song about Power.  To be honest, I did not catch all of the lyrics but I was hearing about the government.  That’s not to deny the lyrics but, I was stressed out about why I couldn’t put up the fist.

Where I am from it is called the, “Black Fist”.  I looked around and others were unable to do it too.  Some did though.   As I started to lose grasp of the lyrics for thinking about this too hard, someone put up two fists and I was instantly relieved.  I am again able to focus on the song and participate.

I put up my two fists and I too thought about Power.  Check out my ISIS Spacejet Terrorist Transmission: Text Language.

Lyrics form the recording of Text Language

By Joy Lynn Clark

Im T X T ing S M S

And you aint getting my messeges

Wanna be connected like the world wide web

Gotta parse whats in my head

Between what’s said

Im missing the point

Cause I’m so sharp

Everytime I think it ends

It just restarts

Lets pick some roles

And play some parts

I don’t get this cipher

And I wanna roll out

Cause I Already told you what I’m all about

You seem to be lost

What you finding out?

Im an open book

Or maybe just a wave

I guess I close it

But it’s truth I gave

Yes Im guessing

I don’t know your question

My math don’t question

Now think on that

It could be a conversation

it could be a rap

it could be in words

or in pictures like a map

This is why

you should buy this

and pass it along

in your messages

In the air

With frequency

Everwhere

like you T X T

Pass it along

Electronically

Pick it up

Sonically

In the air with frequency

Everywhere

Like you T X T

Giving information

I thought we knew

Cause giving information

Is what I do

Throw me a couple problems

Add it up for you

Try to close the door

But I float right through

Better yet appear

Where I want to

I’m new clear

I see-through

Wanna call me naked

Cause I’m taking off

But this is flight

I’m aloft

I’m in the atmosphere

And way beyond

Puncture the membrane

With just a song

I can be nuclear

If you like

And enter the stratosphere

Without a strike

I am active no fallout

I rock heavy metal

There’s no doubt

And there is no waste

Power everywhere

And watch the lames displace

This is why

you should buy this

and pass it along

in your messages

In the air

With frequency

Everwhere

like you T X T

Pass it along

Electronically

Pick it up

Sonically

In the air with frequency

Everywhere

Like you T X T

Derive the answer I’m factoring

Get it you massively

move neither in the aggressive nor passively

I am power I am dynamic

I am fire heat for the planet

Take it for granted

And if you can’t stand it

I’ll give you an upgrade

In the spot that I landed

Invasive species

Go back where they belong

Now everyone is asking

Why I take so long?

This is why

you should buy this

and pass it along

in your messages

In the air

With frequency

Everwhere

like you T X T

Pass it along

Electronically

Pick it up

Sonically

In the air with frequency

Everywhere

Like you T X T

Just so you know I got that dro

In the mountains high

And the valley low

Watch me coast I’m a river

And I lay flat

Dam, you can’t hold me back

Make you move feel the energy

Power the grid electrically

In the tower is where the work be

need a few watts

You should get wit me

Or I can be wind

And I get it in

make you rotate

Gyrate and I send The power to you

Straightaway

or I can switch it up On a sunny day

put it on my plate wont reflect away

send it in a wave so you get what I say

got so many styles how I switch it up

teach you the language now fill your cup

This is why

you should buy this

and pass it along

in your messages

In the air

With frequency

Everwhere

like you T X T

Pass it along

Electronically

Pick it up

Sonically

In the air with frequency

Everywhere

Like you T X T
