The Same Name Cover Band

Back in February I went to a live music venue not far from my place called Banners. I had gone there right when I first arrived in Lexington to see a cool jazz band in the past.

This time however the place was packed with colored folks as well as what I normally encounter in Lexington. It almost seemed as if the entire black UK alumni Association was there and half of them had on the blue and everything! Even though I am a Flame, Go Wildcats!

I asked the bartender to place my order and he replied, “would you like to start a tab?”. I agreed and eventually ordered my appetizers and drink. It was nice to find a place nearby that I can visit that has a mixed race crowd. I started drifting away and what I thought was a waitress stopped near my spot at the bar and was like, “whoop whoop!”. I was about to get her attention and then the bartender gave me my food. Next, someone announces that the band will start soon. I was glad.

The band starts playing cover songs and I thoroughly enjoyed it. At the end, the band members all introduced themselves and the female singer, “Joy”. I thought to myself, “she’s not a waitress at all”. I quickly signal the bartender and asked to close out my tab. “I have cash please return my card.” The bartender does so and I handover the cash and asked for a receipt. I rush home and hope that this doesn’t reflect on me. Another same name I guess. As I was rushing out, I met a former NBA player that I might call.
