Soundscan

In 2012, while I was releasing, “Isis Spacejet Chronicles”, I went right to the SoundScan website and added all of the albums’ information and chose a genre. Verify and submit!

Nearly 10 years later, I decided to revisit the SoundScan website and those genres now hold new meaning for me. Here goes directly from the SoundScan title registration page.

Blues, children, Christian, classical, comedy, country, dance/electronic, gospel, jazz, karaoke, Latin, metal, New Age, R&B, rap, reggae, rock, Soundtrack, and world

Based on the genres listed I have a few recommendations. Christian well that’s not a type of music that’s a religion. How about contemporary hymns or church music? I am not much of a fan of the children’s genre title either. Mainly, if it’s for kids, a grown-up probably bought it for them. I would like family music. While it is true there is a network, I think that families are powerful and can probably handle it.

Comedy Usually has me laughing my ass off. However, let’s go with audio. Comedians are not the only ones with audio albums.

Now dance/electronic, no way! I am in this category and I think that electronic just doesn’t work. Dance is better. I know my step brother who is an engineer loves electronics but shouldn’t have a say in my career. Seriously, I don’t know if I am smart enough for electronics.

Next, karaoke, excuse me. You mean to tell me that the best karaoke singer can get recognition? What’s the difference between a karaoke and a cover artist? Or do you mean a really great impersonator?

Latin like Christian, how about Música En Español? Or simply Musica.

Why can’t SKA And Metal just be rock too? Is metal rock or industrial because industrial is electronic.

Finally, how about we change world to global? I am always having these issues with directions and I think that this is not a world issue but it could be a global one.
