Is It the End of The World? (Pale Horse)

All of my life it has been the end times.  Religious people always point out things that are going on in the world as biblical.  Everytime I hear that, it really seems to me like the start of something new.  Not totally new.  But new like microwave popcorn.  TB is coming back.  Everyone can communicate multiple ways in the blink of an eye.  Masses of people could die.  But that happened already, world wars, black plague.

I did not really want to get religious but, I cant help but refer to the Christian perspective that I know fairly well (as far as religion goes).  The book of Revelations tells of the end times.  Revelations is full of scary things like the AntiChrist (like not for Christ), there’s evil, destruction, and a chosen few.

So, I decided to look into my accepted images of good and evil.  Using my favorite holiday, Halloween.  On Halloween I get to dress up like the devil, or an angel, or anything I really want, and I get candy.  Well, used to.  How come this is not the end of the world?

We play games and try to scare eachother.  We make light of all of the endtimes stuff that Revelations talks about.  Leaves fall off of the trees and die.  We take the guts out of pumpkins and slice them up.  It’s great.

Last year it felt like the end of the world.  I was locked in my room listening to horrific stories of rape, death, imprisonment, and depression.  I was unhappy to be alone but  I kept telling myself, “ I am not depressed I am unhappy”.  You may think that it sounds depressed to you but, I have a clear definition on that.  Unhappy will pass, depression needs medical attention.  Clearly I was unhappy, I listened to a bunch of sad stories.  Told my sad stories, and all of my family was away.  I did not have anyone to lean on at the time.

As I got into writing Pale Horse I decided to examine some of the images that I have as revealed to me by Revelations.  Unfortunately, they are some of my favorite images from mythology.  Damn, how am I gonna justify this?  Pale Horse is from the perspective of the mythological beast.

Lyrics from Pale Horse

Rode a pale horse it was a unicorn

Now they say the devil’s red

With two horns

I’m made up of rainbows

I refract through the expanse

I bounce around

And dance with sound

And move across the land

Cause it’s hard to understand

Why I just cant come back down

I’m ruler without a crown

The names change but it’s all the same

Not that different don’t be afraid

I leave the ground then touch the clouds

And make a big splash

When I come back down

These are the words that we made

Let it roll off your tongue

Like liquid

I might go to hell but oh well

I guess that means I’m wicked

If you ain’t ready for the answer

Then you should not ask

Wanna get deep

Dig into my past

Sift through the garbage

And find some trash

Want me to ask and I know that

But are you ready for the blowback

Wonder why I’m holding back

Got me in the photo mat

Rode a pale horse it was a unicorn

Now they say the devil’s red

With two horns

I’m made up of rainbows

I refract through the expanse

I bounce around

And dance with sound

And move across the land

Cause it’s hard to understand

Why I just cant come back down

I’m ruler without a crown

Brother rode a dragon

His scales are fierce

People fear the fire

But the fire’s not the beast

Z thinks I’m a giant

And I am to him

He’s a prophet new world begins

Things are just bass akwards

Got the cover

But you missing the chapters

How you come across

So stay over there

Brush your own

While I’m climbing the stair

Stay with people we hate

Say it’s good when it aches

No I can’t relate

Decide on what’s fake

When I wear my mask

It’s gon’ look great

Talk my trash that’s never been used

Just by you

I’m so blind and don’t have a clue

Rode a pale horse it was a unicorn

Now they say the devil’s red

With two horns

I’m made up of rainbows

I refract through the expanse

I bounce around

And dance with sound

And move across the land

Cause it’s hard to understand

Why I just cant come back down

I’m ruler without a crown

I’ll just laugh cause it’s sad

And sounds like the same lit

But that’s all me so I’ll speak

Dazee Dizzle’s language

That’s how much I need you

And this my love is real

If I’m spending anything on you

Take it please don’t steal

Rode a pale horse it was a unicorn

Now they say the devil’s red

With two horns

I’m made up of rainbows

I refract through the expanse

I bounce around

And dance with sound

And move across the land

Cause it’s hard to understand

Why I just cant come back down

I’m ruler without a crown

Hey lover

I miss you like I miss my mind

Got a bunch of tales

That I left behind

Been so long since I saw you

I can’t even tell the time

Wake right up

And make some

Stupid rhymes

I would rap late

But you know how that sound

I’d tell you what I ate

But that food ain’t around

Cause the whole thing is framed

In a picture that’s hilly

With a guy on the shore

It ain’t you or me

I think it’s something more

And he’s standing by a tree

I imagine his reflection

Is seen in the water

I guess it’s not a guy no more

Got a monkey on the wall

That I should throw out

But I never got a monkey before

And I know how cray that sound

It’s a first so it hangs around
